Rope wall art

I have big blank walls in my apartment that I am slowly but surely decorating. More slow than sure, but it's getting there. I made this rope piece for my dining room using sisal rope and hot glue during my free time in the past few weekends (I should mention that I stole this idea from designsponge). What else can I hot glue?

What I learned this week

1. Ricky Perry is slightly bow-legged. He says it's from practicing standing like a cowboy when he was younger.
2. Psychopaths have a hard time identifying fear and sadness. When people with antisocial personality disorder see facial expressions, they're a lot more likely to be able to recognize happy ones than sad or scared ones. This is probably why psychos don't feel remorse, since they don't emotionally register that they are harming anyone.
3. James Bond's a weenie. Fine, it's the actors who play James Bond who are the weenies, but still. Stunt doubles do all the really stupid things that make guys go see those movies. Like 800-foot bungee jumps and ski jumping off a cliff or sliding from one plane to another at 15,000 feet in the air. And a lot of the times, they go uncredited in the films.
4. Some of my grad school classes have come in handy. I wrote an article on famous sociologists and some of their contributions to the field, and I actually remembered some of the ideas that I learned in my communication theory class a couple years back. Ah, the good old days.

I also learned that Leonardo (of TMNT) uses katanas, one of the Bee Gees was named Maurice, and that Will likes "Nights in White Satin" at a pub quiz on Thursday. We didn't do too well...

Jonas post!

My nephew Jonas is just too cute not to have another blog post dedicated to him. I went up to DFW a couple weekends ago to visit and got to spend some time with the kid.  Don't you just want to snuggle him?

Things I learned at work this week

I haven't written much lately, so maybe this will be from the past two weeks. It's hard to keep track of all the trivia I know now.

1. There are more so-bad-they're-good movies out there than I knew. Some of the ones I recommend: The Room, Death Bed: The Bed That Eats, Showgirls, Earth Girls Are Easy, Big Bad Mama, and Killer Klowns from Outer Space.
2. The Boston Massacre started over a wig.
3. Smugglers are strange, strange people. People will put monkeys and fish in their pants to try to get them onto a plane. A monk even tried to smuggle a nun's skeleton into another country.

Ok, I actually learned a lot more, but I'm feeling super lazy. So maybe I'll sprinkle other useless facts throughout upcoming posts.

Jewelry holder

I'm still working on getting my apartment set up and decorated. Ok, I'm not really working. More like throwing a few things up on the wall. It's just hard to get it done and feel settled when I'm still lacking a couch and I can't get cable and Internet until mid-September. But nevertheless, a few things have made it up and I've finished one of many projects I've started (at least in my head).

Here it is:

Crunchy PB Brownies

Last weekend, I made these delicious brownies that I saw on Pinterest from this blog. And then I took them to work so that people would like me! Perfect plan, huh?

Terrible picture because we were about to eat the last ones and I hadn't photographed it yet. But there's brownie on the bottom and chocolate chips, peanut butter cups, peanut butter, Rice Krispies, and peanuts on the top. Sooo good.
